Religion notes: Theology prof to speak at St. Hilary
Scott Hahn, a professor of theology and scripture at Franciscan University of Steubenville, will speak at St. Hilary Parish Oct. 19.Hahn, a teacher and author, has spoken nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to scripture and the Catholic faith. He is the founder and director of the Steubenville-based St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, a nonprofit research and educational institute of Scripture study in the Catholic tradition.He received his undergraduate degree (with a triple concentration in theology, philosophy and economics) from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. He received his master of divinity from Massachusetts-based Gordon-Cornwell Theological Seminary and his doctorate in biblical theology from Marquette University. He has experience in youth and pastoral ministry in both the Protestant and Catholic churches.Hahn’s local presentation will focus on the relationship between the Bible and the mass and how upcoming changes to the liturgy in the Catholic Church will affect the worship experience.
